As well as Blogging, I've also wanted to make a few videos - for online reviews and guides. Partly, because it looks like fun and I could become famous online. And partly, because I think I've accumulated enough knowledge about today's technology that it would benefit my readers and viewers.
It started when I bought my Samsung Galaxy S2 - I produced an "un-boxing" video. Since then I have created THREE videos. Yep, 3 big ones. They're slowly improving and can be found on the YouTube Channel.
Samsung Galaxy S2's Micro USB "On The Go" Adapter. A simple little cable that functions as a USB to Micro USB Adapter.
The one I review is not the official Samsung cable - but does the job at a fraction of the price. I opted to go for a Ebay purchase (£1.99 I think). This is normally a risky choice but I didn't think paying more would have bought me any more quality!
What's it for?
Lot's of things - I'm going to demonstrate it on my Galaxy S2. I have a USB mouse and a USB memory stick to show how you can make more use of the phone.
In theory, the adapter could be used on other Smartphones. I haven't tested this myself but have seen videos on Nokia's and HTC's.
Do I Like it?
I think this little adapter provides the Galaxy S2 a significant advantage over Samsungs' main rival, Apple. As I understand the iPhone 4S does not have "off the shelf" ability to use these adaptors (but I'm sure a "jail broken" iPhone probably could easily do so).
One of the features that stood out (which I test in the video) is it's ability to use the USB memory sticks as additional storage space. This is on top of the 32GB I have on the phone (on board memory & SD Card).
I can imagine using the adapter and memory stick combined to take personal documents with me. You don't want to store too much personal data directly on your phone do you? I would also use it to store "backed up" movies and TV series to watch on the go. This would mean I can free up space on my phone for my multitude of music.
Other applications are endless - maybe you're missing the touch of a physical keyboard? Well why not attach one to your phone!
Yes, it can be brilliant - find out why by watching the video and let me know what you think.
